ISLAMABAD, January 17, 2025 – A delegation from K-Electric (KE), led by Chairman of KE’s Board of Directors Mark Skelton, held meetings with key government authorities to address long-standing issues, including unresolved tariffs and financial claims, informed sources told Business Recorder.

The discussions focused on KE’s generation tariff proposal, which has faced criticism from Power Minister Sardar Awais Leghari for potentially imposing an additional financial burden of Rs. 500 billion on consumers over a seven-year period.

A separate high-level meeting to discuss KE’s issues, initially scheduled for Thursday under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, was postponed on Wednesday night.

KE’s team also engaged with top officials of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to clarify matters related to generation, transmission, distribution, and supply tariffs. Discussions included KE’s Rs. 68 billion write-off claims, which remain unresolved.

The meetings aim to resolve regulatory and operational challenges, ensuring a balanced approach to financial sustainability and consumer affordability in the power sector. Further deliberations are expected in the coming weeks.
